Lara George Family and Educational Background
Born as Lara Bajomo into the family of Mr. and Mrs. Oluwole Bajomo in Lagos State, Lara grew up like every other kid not knowing she is going to be a star someday. She happened to be the fourth out of five children that her parent has, Lara George attended Queen’s College, Yaba, Lagos where she joined the school choir. She later proceeded to the University of Lagos for her tertiary education; Lara studied and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in architecture.
Although she studied Architecture, the love for music she developed while in secondary school was as strong as ever and this influenced her decision and steps she took into the world of Gospel music in Nigeria.
Lara George Music Career
There is no doubt that Lara George has a captivating voice that touches the souls of many and enables them to connect to their maker, this multi-talented Gospel singer started singing since when she was in secondary school, the young voice that led songs in school turned into the spell-binding voice that sings into the ears of many today.
While she was studying Architecture at the University of Lagos, she joined her fellowship music team and it was there that she met Dapo, Emem, and TY. The four of them nurtured their love for music and the bond between them led them to form a musical group called KUSH in 1997. They were all members of Rock Foundation Mission campus fellowship, the group which results from their friendship and oneness of purpose received many awards and record deal.
Although KUSH got the attention of the populace both in Nigeria and internationally with their homeland and western tunes and their fan base continued to grow in leap and bounds the group eventually split and Lara George went solo. She took a two-year break from the music industry and made a greater comeback when she launched her solo debut album titled “Forever In My Heart” in 2007. The album produced her hit song “Ijoba Orun” which brought Lara into the limelight.
Forever In My Heart won Lara George several awards and nominations in 2008 which include “Voice of the Year Award” at The Nigerian Music Awards in 2008 and “Female Artist of the Year” and “Song of the Year” at the Nigerian Gospel Music Awards in 2009. Her hit song “Ijoba Orun” became a household song used in many churches and enjoyed airplay in radio stations, the song talked about the Kingdom of Heaven and the importance of Christians getting the reward of the kingdom after leaving the earth.
Lara George released another album in 2009, the album boasted of many hit songs including “Ko Le Baje” and “Run With You”. The sophomore album has 14 tracks featuring Midnight Crew’s Pat Uwaje and Lord of Ajasa. Lara won the award of The Best African Female Gospel Artiste at African Gospel Music Awards in 2011. She released another album in 2012 titled “Higher”, the album came with lots of hit songs and was a success like her other albums.
She released two albums in 2014, “Love Nwantintin” and “A Slice of Heaven”. Lara is a Gospel singer that has traveled out of the country, her albums are doing well and she kept releasing one hit songs after another, no wonder she is having a slice of heaven.
Lara George Wedding
Lara is married to Gbenga George; he is a legal practitioner and music entrepreneur who also acts as Lara’s manager. Her wedding to her husband Gbenga George is blessed with two children; a boy and her girl. They named the boy Adeoba Alexander George while the girl bears Tiaraoluwa George.
